Black Sabbath to headline Download Festival 2012 – ticket details

Black Sabbath join Metallica as the second headliner of the metal bash

Black Sabbath have been announced as the second headliner of next summer’s Download Festival.

The heavy metal legends, who consist of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, announced that they had reunited today (November 11) at 11.11am (PST) at a Los Angeles press conference and also confirmed that they would be headlining next summer’s festival.

Metallica were confirmed as the festival’s first headliner yesterday (November 10) and will play a set that includes the entirety of their 1991 self-titled fifth album – widely known as The Black Album. They will headline the festival’s second night (June 9).

Iommi told Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward at Osbourne’s California home earlier this year to play some music “for a bit of fun, and to see if we could all play. It was good, but it was just purely, ‘Let’s have a go and see what happens.’ “

Download Festival will take place from June 8-10 2012 at Donington Park, with tickets going onsale a week on Friday (November 18).

The festival was headlined by System Of A Down, Linkin Park and Def Leppard in 2011 and also featured sets from Bullet For My Valentine, Rob Zombie, Pendulum, Bring Me The Horizon as well as the comeback show from The Darkness.
