But Sabbath will headline their last ever shows next year in their native Brum...

Black Sabbath have cancelled the Ozzfest shows planned for London Earl’s Court. The band originally said that they were only postponing the shows because of unprecedented interest in the Sabbath dates in the US. But now organisers claim that the shows were hampered by licensing restrictions imposed by the local council and the fact that second on the bill band Stone Temple Pilots dropped out of the bill.

But Black Sabbath will play their last ever UK shows with the original line-up – Ozzy Osbourtne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler – at Birmingham NEC on December 21 and 22. Tickets will go on sale soon.

There are also plans to bring Ozzfest to the UK in 2000, though the date and line-up details are still being worked out.

Ticket holders for the Earl’s Court shows can obtain refunds from point of purchase.
