BLACKPINK have proved their place at the top table of K-Pop after breaking the record for the most viewed video on YouTube by a K-Pop group.
At the time of writing the video for the girl group’s ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ has scored 625.7 million views on YouTube. It’s a comfortable defeat of BTS‘ ‘DNA’, which currently sits at 622.3 million views.
As Billboard reports, the record was originally achieved after ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ hit the top spot with 620.9 million views, in contrast to ‘DNA’ at 618.9 million.
It comes after the band were announced for Coachella earlier this year, becoming the first female K-Pop group to perform at the festival.
In 2018, they also joined forces with Dua Lipa on ‘Kiss & Make Up’ which featured on the deluxe edition of her debut album.
The track – and the identity of Lipa’s collaborators – had been subject to speculation after the ‘New Rules’ singer teased the release on Twitter. Her use of a black heart emoji and a pink heart emoji and five angel emojis – one for her and each of the four BLACKPINK members – fuelled rumours.
It was also confirmed earlier this month that BLACKPINK will head out on a huge world tour with European dates expected to be scheduled for the first time ever.
