Blink-182 confirm Travis Barker will join them for 2013 Australia tour

Sticksman had previously said that he could not face the prospect of flying to Australia

Blink-182 have been confirmed to take part in next year’s Soundwave Festival, which takes place across Australia in February next year.

The drummer had previously said that the trio would have to tour Australia without him as he is still struggling with a phobia of flying as a result of the 2008 plane crash he endured while travelling with DJ AM, but he now appears to have changed his mind.

He previously said: “It’s hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can’t really get everywhere.” He did add though that he hoped to overcome his phobia for the sake of his children, adding: “I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”

However, when the promoter of Soundwave Festival A.J Maddah announced that the pop-punk trio would be taking part in Soundwave 2013, he moved quickly to assure ticket buyers that Barker would be making the trip, tweeting: “Mark+Tom+Travis. Yes Travis.”

Blink-182 have just completed their UK summer tour, which they finished late last month with a pair of intimate shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester’s O2 Apollo.

Earlier this year, the band revealed they’re already working on the follow-up to the album, with frontman Mark Hoppus stating he’d been writing new songs while Tom DeLonge has been out on the road with his side-project Angels And Airwaves.
