Transgressive Records join forces with NME for special CD

Boys behind Bloc Party compile free album for new issue

The label that helped launch the likes Bloc Party, The Rakes and The Young Knives are responsible for bringing you CD free with this week’s NME.

Easily the youngest and most defiant A&Rs in the business, 19-year-old Toby L and 20-year-old Tim Dellow from Trangressive Records have compiled the latest CD in Independent Thinking series, showcasing the best and most innovative labels around.

The Young Knives, whose Kim Wilde cover ‘Kids In America’ features exclusively on the compilation, said Toby and Tim‘s enthusiasm was what attracted them to the label.

“To be honest we thought they’d be rubbish because they were both real young and jumping around like little girls,” explains Young Knives bassist The House Of Lords.

“But when we realised how much they cared and knew their stuff, we signed up with them.”

The CD ‘NME Presents: Independent Thinking’ Transgressive Records is filled with 14 tracks from the likes of Mystery Jets, The Subways, Regina Spektor, Battle and Larrikin Love.

Make sure you pick up a copy of this week’s NME, available in stores nationwide now, to get your free CD.

Keep your eye out for next week’s NME too which is set to feature a free CD from acclaimed label Modular, the men behind the likes of Wolfmother and new rave outfit New Young Pony Club.
