Band join fellow headliners Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy and The Black Keys on the line-up
Blur have been confirmed as the final headliners for this year’s Isle Of Wight festival.
The band will headline the festival, which takes place between June 11-14, for the first time this year. The appearance will follow the release of new album ‘The Magic Whip’ in April and comes before another huge live date at London’s Hyde Park in June.
The festival line-up already includes Paolo Nutini and Pharrell Williams plus headliners Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy and The Black Keys. Fleetwood Mac will close the festival, having signed an exclusive worldwide deal to bring their live show to The Isle Of Wight. The Prodigy and The Black Keys, will co-headline the Friday night of the festival, with Blur to play on the Saturday.
The Courteeners, Ash and The View plus Billy Idol, Kodaline, Counting Crows, You Me At Six, First Aid Kit, Sheppard, Jessie Ware, The Struts, Jess Glynne and Kool & The Gang will also play the event. Other acts confirmed were Groove Armada, Chicks On Speed, Coasts, Ruen Brothers and Pretty Vicious. The festival takes place June 11-14 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.
Blur will also headline British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on June 20 and have also been announced as a headliner for this year’s Benicàssim festival in Spain.
Last week (March 20) Blur played new album ‘The Magic Whip’ in full at tiny west London club Mode to an audience of 300 fans. After performing ‘The Magic Whip’ in full, they ended with an encore of ‘Trouble In The Message Centre’ from 1994’s ‘Parklife’.
