Band join Portishead, The Prodigy and Florence + The Machine as headliners
Blur have been announced as a headline act for this year’s Benicassim Festival.
The band join Portishead, The Prodigy and Florence + The Machine as headliners for the Spanish festival, which takes place July 16-19. The bill also includes Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Bastille, Jamie T and Public Enemy, among others.
Blur are currently preparing to release their new album, ‘The Magic Whip’, on April 27. An intimate gig is due to take place on March 20 at a mystery club in west London, where the group will play the LP in full for the very first time. The show will be free, with tickets being made available to fans by an as-yet-unannounced method. Watch a video trailer for the show below.
Blur will also headline British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on June 20. Speaking last month, guitarist Graham Coxon said the band couldn’t have done any more shows without new songs.
“We just couldn’t have done any more shows without some new material,” he told the South China Morning Post. “It was getting tedious, and some of the fans were getting peeved about it.”
The Magic Whip’ tracklisting is:
‘New World Towers’
‘Ice Cream Man’
‘Thought I Was A Spaceman’
‘My Terracotta Heart’
‘There Are Too Many Of Us’
