Bombay Bicycle Club win Shockwaves NME Awards Best New Band honour

Band pick up prize from Ellie Goulding and Mat Horne

Bombay Bicycle Club have won the Best New Band award at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 24).

The band picked up the prize from guest presenters Ellie Goulding and actor Mat Horne at London‘s O2 Academy Brixton.

Bombay Bicycle Club received huge cheers as they stepped up to receive their award.

Bassist Ed Nash joked: “We were playing a drinking game before we got this and we lost to The xx.”

Lead singer Jack Steadman added: “We lost the drinking game but we got this, so thank you. I’d like to thank my gran too.”

The other nominees in the category were The Big Pink, Mumford and Sons, The xx and La Roux.
