Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora confirms he won’t play Hyde Park gig on Friday

Sambora quit the band's world tour in April citing 'personal reasons' and has yet to rejoin

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has confirmed he will not play with the band at their massive gig in London’s Hyde Park on Friday (July 5).

Sambora quit the band’s world tour in April citing “personal reasons” and has revealed that these haven’t been resolved yet. The guitarist will also miss the band’s stadium show at Glasgow’s Hampden Park on Wednesday (July 3).

“I am not going to be on stage at Hyde Park sadly. It’s just not happening right now,” he told The Sun. “I truly want to be there and I feel very sad for the fans that I won’t be performing. I love the fans, I love the band. Jon and I have been tight for like 30 years, so all of this is very sad and it affects so many people around us.”

However, Sambora hinted that he might be ready to rejoin the band within the next three months. “I’ll be in Paris with my daughter Ava while the band rock the UK. But let’s see what happens at the end of summer. September’s looking good. So, maybe September,” he added.

Bon Jovi kicked off their ‘Because We Can’ tour in North America in February. Last month (June), they played UK dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Sunderland, plus a headline set at Isle Of Wight Festival, all without Sambora. The band’s most recent album ‘What About Now’ came out in March.
