Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has pulled out of the band’s current world tour, citing “personal reasons”.
Sambora, who has struggled with substance abuse and has had several stints in rehab, did not join his bandmates onstage in Canada last night (April 2) and has pulled out of the current leg of the rockers’ Because We Can tour, which will call in across Europe, South America and South Africa before returning to the US in October. A statement on the band’s website reads: “Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled.”
As the Daily Mail reports, after taking to the stage late in Calgary, singer Jon Bon Jovi told the crowd: “I had two choices – pack up and go home or give you everything I got.” He added: “Richie Sambora won’t be performing for a while. If there’s ever a night I need you, it’s tonight, Calgary!”
Bon Jovi are set to headline a new string of events taking place in Hyde Park this summer, performing on July 5 as part of the 10-day long Barclaycard presents British Summer Time series. They will also headline Isle Of Wight Festival.
