A polyp was discovered in George’s throat earlier this week, and specialists have advised him against singing in case he needs an operation. The shows were set to take place this month and next. A press release reads: “George and the band are devastated by this news and so it is with much regret that the tour is cancelled until further notice. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
A statement released by the band says: “We are hoping we can reschedule the concerts for next year, and hopefully George’s problem will be resolved… To our fans we wish to thank you for your loyalty and know that we love you all.”
The reformed 1980s pop band are currently running a PledgeMusic account to help fund their forthcoming new album, ‘Tribes’. It is set for release in 2015, and will be their first new material in over 15 years. The band, who released their debut album ‘Kissing to Be Clever’ in 1982, last released an album in 1999. ‘Don’t Mind If I Do’ was their fifth LP, but was only released in Europe and Japan. It followed 1986’s ‘From Luxury to Heartache’.
