LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY!

He made it as the androgynous frontman of Culture Club - now he wants to be seen as a guru of dance music...

Boy George is planning to be reborn in the USA, launching his career as a dance guru with a mix album released on RADIO ONE DJ PETE TONG‘s ESSENTIAL label early next year.

The 18 tracks will include George‘s version of ‘The Girl From Ipanema’, which he recorded with Boogie Macs, and a track by Cultural Diversion called ‘See Through’ which features the Culture Club frontman on vocals.

Following the release in late February or early March, George has an extensive club tour lined up. He is currently on tour with Culture Club and plays New York City‘s Beacon Theatre tonight (September 27).

Meanwhile, October 1 has been decreed Boy George Day in Pittsburgh, to coincide with their gig in the city. Declaring that he would also be made an honorary Pittsburgher, Councillor Jim Ferlo of the City Council described him as “the voice of poetry and reason” and said it was in honour of offering his “talent, wisdom and tireless energy” to the music industry and gay and lesbian communities.
