Brand New ‘hope’ to release fifth album ‘this year’

Their most recent album 'Daisy' was released in September 2009

Brand New have stated that their next album could be released by the end of 2015.

The Long Island band shared their first studio recording in six years during April in the form of ‘Mene’.

Now, Jesse Lacey and co have addressed rumours that their fifth album in on its way during an interview with Spanish magazine RockZone, as reported by DIY.

During the interview, Lacey revealed that the LP is “not ready” yet but that “hopefully it will come out this year”.

The singer added: “We don’t know whether it will be an EP of seven songs or so, or the traditional LP of 14 songs. We have many songs that we’ve been working”.

Brand New performing live at Leeds Festival

The band’s most recent album, ‘Daisy’, was released in September 2009. It was preceded by ‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me’ (2006), ‘Deja Entendu’ (2003) and debut ‘Your Favorite Weapon’ (2001).

Meanwhile, Brand New recently played a series of UK shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London during June.

The band will return to British shores for a tour during September. See those dates in full below.

In 2013, Brand New cancelled their planned European tour, including their appearances at the Reading And Leeds Festivals. The band announced their decision to call off the shows via a statement citing “insurmountable personal issues” as the reason behind the cancellations.
