Midweek chart update: Brandon Flowers ahead of Paul Weller in battle for Albums Chart top spot

Faith No More's new LP 'Sol Invictus' trails the pair at Number Three

Brandon Flowers‘ second solo LP ‘The Desired Effect’ is ahead of Paul Weller’s ‘Saturns Return’ in the race for the Number One spot in the Official UK Album Chart according to today’s (May 20) midweek update.

The two albums are separated by 2,000 sales, with another new entry in third place – Faith No More’s first album in 17 years, ‘Sol Invictus’. Mumford & Sons’ ‘Wilder Mind’ is at four while Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ release is at five.

Other new entries in this week’s Official Album Chart at today’s midweek stage include Hot Chip’s ‘Why Make Sense?’ at six and Twenty One Pilots with ‘Blurryface’ at Nine.

Meanwhile, in the Official Singles Chart, Ella Eyre’s ‘Together’ is the highest new entry at Number Six, with Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ in at 10 following the premiere of the track’s star-studded video at the start of the week. OMI is set to remain at Number One for a fourth week, with LunchMoneyLewis’ ‘Bills’ at Number Two and Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ FT Charlie Puth at Three.
