The Killers frontman will release his second lone effort next week (May 18)
The singer releases his second lone effort ‘The Desired Effect’ next week (May 18), following on from 2010 solo debut ‘Flamingo’. Having already shared album tracks ‘I Can Change’, ‘Lonely Town’, ‘Still Want You’ and lead single ‘Can’t Deny My Love’, the full LP is now streaming via iTunes.
‘The Desired Effect’ features guest appearances from Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant and Haim singer Danielle Haim, as well as The Killers’ own Ronnie Vannucci.
Flowers recently told NME that he wants to hear songs from the album on the radio, even if he admits that he finds commercial music in 2015 to be a “weird world”.
“I want to be on the radio,” Flowers said. “I’ve never been ashamed to say that. I can’t believe where radio has gone. It seems to be such a weird world now. Where once I seemed to fit in, now I’m seen as a little different. I used to be considered mainstream, but now I’m almost avant-garde or art rock compared to what’s on the radio.”
The tracklisting for ‘The Desired Effect’ is:
‘Dreams Come True’
‘Can’t Deny My Love’
‘I Can Change’
‘Still Want You’
‘Between Me And You’
‘Digging Up The Heart’
‘Never Get You Right’
‘The Way It’s Always Been’
‘The Desired Effect’
Flowers recently told NME that his band The Killers will make another record because their previous effort ‘Battle Born’ “wasn’t good enough” and “we all know it”. “Once [the band] all get on the same page, it’ll work,” Flowers said. He jokingly added: “I need to persuade them to like the same things as I do.”
