Watch Brian Blessed deliver an unlikely cover of Kasabian’s ‘Bless This Acid House’

Shakespeare would be proud...

Brian Blessed has proved his unlikely frontman credentials after performing a booming Kasabian cover during a recent radio interview.

The famously effusive thespian was appearing on Radio X’s drivetime show with host Johnny Vaughan when he obliged a request to read out the lyrics to Kasabian’s ‘Bless This Acid House’ in his iconic voice.

After being handed the lyrics to the ‘For Crying Out Loud’ track, Blessed put a spoken-word twist on the track as he delivered it in the gusto-filled style of a Shakespearean veteran.

When the performance concluded, he further obliged a request from Vaughan to shout ‘IT’S ALIVE’, taken from classic 1980s sci-fi movie Flash Gordon.

Despite the impressive showing, it’s unlikely that Kasabian will be calling on his services any time soon, after the band gave a top-of-their-game performance at the O2 Arena over the weekend.

The performance also saw Peter Crouch daring to enter the mosh pit as the Leicester band closed their set with ‘Fire’.
Crouch was initially spotted during a performance of ‘Treat’ that saw guitarist Serge Pizzorno leaving the stage to greet the London faithful, immediately spotting Stoke City striker Crouch on the edge of the crowd before drawing him in for a hug.

Yesterday, it was also announced that Kasabian will join Depeche Mode, Liam Gallagher and The Killers in headlining the Isle of Wight Festival next year.
