AFROMAN and BRITNEY SPEARS are the latest acts to attempt to topple KYLIE MINOGUE from the top of the UK single charts.
Yesterday, Minogue held off a challenge from Michael Jackson to stay at the top of the charts for a fourth consecutive week. Her single ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ beat Jackson‘s comeback single ‘You Rock My World’ to the top, with Jackson as the highest new entry at Number Two.
Today (October 15), a host of new releases are aiming for the top spot. A chart expert at Virgin Megastore in London told NME.COM that Afroman and Spears are both contenders for the top spot. Afroman releases ‘Because I Got High’ and Spears releases ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’.
She commented: “Both should enter the Top Five, as should Mis-Teeq‘s ‘One Night Stand’. Whether Kylie will stay at the top for another week remains to be seen! “
Other new releases this week come from The Beta Band‘s ‘Human Being’, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes’ ‘Block Party’ and Backstreet Boys‘ ‘Drowning’.
