Britney Spears is bigger than THE BEATLES – in DENVER at least!
The pneumatic pop princess has had to cancel a concert in the city because her stage show is too big for the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
The venue has played host to some of the most famous bands in rock history, including The Beatles and U2, who immortalised it in their live video ‘Under A Blood Red Sky’, filmed at the venue in 1983.
The pop queen was due to play on July 26 as part of her 50-date US tour, but the promoters had to cancel it on Friday because the production set-up – which includes moving platforms, giant props and a special-effects-laden video – was too big for the stage.
The 9000-capacity show sold out in less than an hour when tickets went on sale in February. Speaking on American website Allpop.com, promoter Chuck Morris said: “We did everything possible to prevent the show from cancelling. Telling my seven-year-old daughter that Britney wasn’t coming was the hardest thing I have had to do all year.”
