BRITNEY SPEARS’ first novel – ‘A MOTHER’S GIFT’ – won’t hit bookshelves until May, but you can already order your copy.
Aimed at readers aged between four and eight years old, the novel – written by Britney with her mother, Lynne, who also collaborated on last year’s ‘Britney Spears’ Heart To Heart’ – traces the story of Holly Faye Lovell, a Mississippi teenager.
“When at 14 she becomes the youngest student ever to win a scholarship to the prestigious Haverty School Of Music, her dream of pursuing a singing career is on its way,” claims the synopsis on Amazon.com, who are also taking advance orders for the book. “But for the first time in her life, Holly must leave behind her mother, Wanda. Although they don’t have much in the way of money, there’s always been plenty of love… And there’s always been Wanda’s birthmark, an ugly red scar on the side of her face that makes people who don’t know her turn away.”
But there is drama ahead. “Now that Holly’s off with her posh new friends and new life, she’s ashamed to find herself embarrassed by her mom and their humble background. And Wanda finds herself wanting to reveal a long-hidden secret… A secret that could destroy their bond forever.”
Whether Britney will have much time to promote the book remains to be seen – she’s currently filming ‘What Friends Are For’, her first motion picture, and recording her third album with Swedish pop genius Max Martin.
