Britney Spears issues bizarre demands at first US ‘X Factor’ audition

Singer reportedly walks off set while four acts perform in her absence

Britney Spears has reportedly made a series of bizarre demands since joining the US version of The X Factor.

The singer apparently takes breaks whenever she wants and during her first recording yesterday (May 24), she left the studio while four acts performed without her even seeing them, according to US gossip site

Sources connected to the production say she was “overwhelmed” and needed to leave.

The source added:

Simon Cowell is a smart and shrewd businessman who knew Britney could make his show and he was willing to give her just about anything to come on board – and he did.

But Spears’ spokesperson later played down the singer’s actions. The representative told Rolling Stone: “There was nothing wrong, she wasn’t upset – she just asked if she could take a short break and that’s all it was. People are just trying to make more of this than what it really is.”

According to Spears’ spokesperson, the singer only missed auditions by four contestants near the end of the shoot.

Spears, who will reportedly pocket a whopping $15 million (£9.3 million) for just one series, was revealed as the show’s new judge alongside former Disney star Demi Lovato earlier this month.

They replaced the departing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who confirmed at the end of the show’s last series that they will not be taking part in the new Stateside series of The X Factor.

The talent show is due to return to US screens later this year.
