The Boss will be first artist to perform in new Yorkshire venue
Bruce Springsteen will be the first artist to perform live at the soon-to-be-opened Leeds Arena.
The brand new 13,500 capacity venue will host its first ever live performance when Springsteen performs on July 24. Other artists confirmed to play live at Leeds Arena in 2013 include JLS, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli and Kaiser Chiefs. Tickets for Bruce Springsteen at the Leeds Arena will go on sale at 9am on Friday (February 22) morning priced £65.
Speaking about being approached by Bruce Springsteen’s people keen to “road test” the new venue, Leeds Arena director Tony Watson said: “We are delighted that all of our stakeholders hard work in building a world class arena in Leeds, to complement those other venues across the region, has attracted the attention of an international superstar such as Bruce Springsteen. The team is ecstatic that an artist of this sheer calibre will be providing all of us with, what is effectively, a big dress rehearsal for the arena for its opening season.
“Springsteen has always expressed a love of performing in the UK and, from what I understand, any opportunity to put Leeds Arena through its paces was too much to resist. We’re more than happy to take orders from ‘The Boss’ on this occasion.”
Springsteen’s Leeds gig will be part of his 2013 Wrecking Ball tour, a series of shows in the UK and Ireland which will also see the ‘Born To Run’ star performing at London’s Wembley Stadium as well as gigs in Glasgow, Cork, Coventry, Limerick and Belfast.
Bruce Springsteen will play:
London Wembley Stadium (June 15)
Glasgow Hampden Park (18)
Coventry Ricoh Arena (20)
Limerick Thomond Park (July 16)
Cork Páirc Uí Chaoimh (18)
Belfast King’s Hall (20)
