The track will feature on Calexico’s forthcoming album ‘Edge of the Sun’, which is due for release on April 13 via City Slang.
Speaking about ‘Falling From The Sky’ in statement, the group’s frontman Joey Burns commented: “The song could be about not knowing where life is heading sometimes – there is nostalgia and an attempt to convey the importance of mystery and magic in our lives.
“Our instincts tell us to take giant leaps, whilst our minds remind us to be more cautious. When we find ourselves truly alone or facing our biggest challenges, it is then that we are most in tune with our true selves and the world around us, or in this case amongst the universe and stars above.”
‘Edge of the Sun’ will be the group’s ninth studio album and first since the release of ‘Algiers’ in 2012. They are scheduled to tour the UK this April and May to promote the record.
Calexico will play:
London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (April 28)
Manchester The Albert Hall (30)
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (May 1)
Belfast The Limelight (May 2)
