Calvin Harris has become the first British solo artist to pass one billion streams on Spotify.
The producer’s recent single ‘Summer’ has now gained over 160m streams worldwide, making his overall total up to one billion.
Music Week estimates that the landmark number of plays on Spotify is worth $7m (£4.3m) to the artist and his label, Columbia.
Mark Terry, Co-President of Columbia Records UK commented: “This is a landmark achievement for Calvin and deserved recognition that he is in the elite tier of global artists. His recent level of success has been extraordinary and something that all of us here at Columbia are very proud to be part of.”
