Calvin Harris working on EDM TV comedy with Jay Z and Will Smith

Producer is helping develop new show 'Higher' for HBO

Calvin Harris and Jay-Z are reportedly working on an HBO comedy series based on electronic dance music.

According to Deadline the show is called Higher, also involves Will Smith and will be written by Trainspotting author, Irvine Welsh. The venture expands the working relationship between executive producers Jay Z and Will Smith, who are also producing a remake of the movie Annie together. The untitled comedy is currently in development with HBO yet to make a commitment to either a pilot or series.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z will perform live with Beyonce at this weekend’s Grammy Awards, where Calvin Harris is among the nominees. The husband and wife team will perform a duet of ‘Drunk In Love’ from Beyoncé’s recent ‘visual album’, ‘Beyoncé’.

The Grammys will take place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center this Sunday (January 26), and will be hosted by LL Cool J. The Beatles‘ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will also perform together on the night.

As previously announced, Metallica will play the Grammys with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang. Metallica will be performing at the Grammys for the first time in 23 years, having last played the ceremony in 1991. Lang Lang last performed at the bash in 2008.

Lorde and Katy Perry will also perform. Other acts lined up to appear include Daft Punk, who will perform with Stevie Wonder, Pharrell, and Nile Rodgers and Kendrick Lamar, who will perform with Imagine Dragons. In addition, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves, John Legend and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will play the ceremony.
