Camila Cabello responds to claims that Taylor Swift encouraged her to quit Fifth Harmony

“Absolutely nobody could ever persuade me to do something."

Camila Cabello has denied claims that Taylor Swift was behind her decision to quit Fifth Harmony to pursue a solo career.

Despite speculation at the time of her departure from the group in December 2016, the Havana singer insists that the decision was hers, and hers alone.

“It annoyed me that people said she was encouraging me because I know that she probably got a lot of negative criticism for that”, she told The Sun.

“Absolutely nobody could ever persuade me to do something. If I don’t want to do something the whole world could be telling me and I won’t do it.

“And if I do then the whole world could be telling me to not do it and I’ll do it. I’ve always been that way.”

“To be honest with you, she’s never ever had anything to do with that. It’s so funny, because when Taylor and I talk and whenever we hang out we talk about love and boys.”

But while Taylor might not have been behind her decision to leave, she’s certainly giving her a boost – after she was announced as a support act for Taylor’s forthcoming world tour.

“This is a Reputation stadium tour update, and I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a really time,” said Swift last month.

“The opening acts on the the Reputation Stadium Tour will be Charli XCX and Camila Cabello. I’m really excited, I hope you are too. I can’t wait to see you, I can’t wait to see them – I’m really excited just about the whole thing in general.”
