US rapper Cam’ron has released a branded facemask that purports to prevent the wearer from catching the Ebola virus.
Despite the fact that Ebola is not airborne (it spreads through contact with bodily fluids), the hip-hop star claims that his product – which contains a picture of his own face emblazoned on the front – “provides complete protection” from the disease.
“Wrap it up and protect yourself from Ebola just like Killa Cam!” reads the description on Cam’ron’s online store. “Provides complete protection while remaining light and comfortable. Polypropylene outer facing offers a soft, fluid protection barrier while the cellulose inner facing assures comfort and breathability. A full-width nosepiece guarantees proper fit. Latex-free ear loops.”
The mask is available now for £12 ($19.99).
The Ebola epidemic has so far killed over 4,000 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
Last week, singer Chris Brown caused controversy when he said the ourbreak was a “form of population control”. He later backtracked, weeting “Let me shut my black ass up”.
