Cancer Bats writing Black Sabbath-influenced new album

Toronto hardcore band say they've banished negativity for fourth studio album

Cancer Bats have begun writing the follow-up to their 2010 third album ‘Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones’.

The Toronto hardcore band, who played a small number of UK dates in April, are currently on a North American tour, but have said they have begun writing new material.

Speaking to, singer Liam Cormier said the band’s fourth LP would have “lots of Sabbath and lots of pogoing. Black Sabbath has so much good head-bounce and groove, we need more of that stuff.”

Cormier added that the band would not write another album as lyrically negative as their last. He said: “I want to do the most positive record ever. Heavy as fuck, but no more negative vibes. I’ve got none left in me.”

Cancer Bats return to the UK this summer, with appearances booked at both Sonisphere Festival and Relentless NASS Festival in July.
