The ‘WAP’ rapper was participating in an Instagram Live broadcast when she said that her political stance and well-documented dislike of Trump had resulted in her becoming a target for social media trolls.
“They be making fun of me. I ignore them. I don’t give a fuck,” Cardi explained. “Let me tell you something. Shit gets so intense that a Trump supporter posted my address and encouraged people to dox my home, to put my house on fire.
“I literally hired a private investigator, and serve them with a warrant and arrest this boy. This boy was a fucking teenager. His parents were shook.”
During the same live-stream, the rapper responded to controversial Republican commentator Candace Owens after she labelled Cardi “dumb” and “illiterate”. “It’s not a secret I use my platform to encourage people to vote,” she said. “I love politics … Today, Candace Owens said some real nasty things about me.”
Cardi has found herself embroiled in US political discourse on a number of occasions in the lead-up to November’s presidential election. After praising both Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she shared her surprise at “conservatives and Republicans” discussing the controversial ‘WAP’.
Last month, she also hit back at another conservative commentator, DeAnna Lorraine, who said the world needed less of Cardi and more of women like Melania Trump.
Meanwhile, Cardi B has been added to the line-up for Rolling Loud Portugal 2021 alongside Stormzy, Boy Better Know and more.
