Last night saw Cardi B make her first public appearance since giving birth at the MTV VMAs 2018 – where she opened the ceremony by pretending to breast feed one of the awards.
Cardi B and rapper Offset celebrated the birth of their child Kulture Kiari Cephus earlier this summer, after she cancelled tour dates for her acclaimed album ‘Invasion Of Privacy‘ due to her pregnancy.
“I am the empress,” said Cardi B as she opened the ceremony last night. “The liberals voted for me.”
She also pretended to breastfeed before revealing that she was instead holding one of MTV’s iconic ‘Moon Person’ award statues. Check out her introduction below.

The evening also saw Cardi B take home the VMA for ‘Best New Artist’, as well as ‘Best Collaboration’ for ‘Dinero’ with Jennifer Lopez and DJ Khaled, and ‘Song Of The Summer’ for ‘I Like It’ with Bad Bunny and J Balvin. Check out the full list of MTV VMA 2018 winners here.
The evening also saw Madonna pay tribute to Aretha Franklin – which caused quite a stir online with many accusing her of “making it all about herself”.
Meanwhile, Cardi B recently teased that she could have some new music dropping very soon.
The star shared details of what she’s been working on since with her fans on Instagram Live on Wednesday (August 8). “There’s about five songs that I was supposed to put on ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ but they didn’t fit and make sense,” she said. So I’m gonna put it on this project that I really want to put out on September 1st, but I’m missing like four or five songs.”
She added that the project might have to be released a little later, though, due to her busy schedule. “I got four or five songs I gotta finish for this project and I got like six features I still got to do [for other artists],” she explained.
