Cardi B surpasses Beyoncé to achieve new US chart record

She's the first female act with five top 10 hits

Cardi B has achieved a new chart feat, with five top 10 hits in the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart within the same week.

Cardi is first female artist and third act overall to ever achieve this feat. Her record was previously four singles, with which she tied with Beyoncé.

She now sits behind Drake, who achieved eight singles in the top ten in 2016, and ties with Kendrick Lamar, who achieved it in 2017.

In the week’s chart for January 20, Cardi B’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, ‘Finesse (Remix)’ is at number one and G-Eazy team up ‘No Limit’ is at number three.

Completing the top ten are ‘Motorsport’ at number four, her track featuring Migos and Nicki Minaj, her latest single ‘Bartier Cardi’ featuring 21 Savage at number seven, and breakthrough solo single ‘Bodak Yellow’ at number 10.

Cardi broke another chart record in 2017, when she became the first female solo rapper top the chart since Lauryn Hill in 1998.

‘Bodak Yellow’ famously knocked Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ off the top spot and made Cardi the fifth female rapper to lead the Hot 100 ever.

Cardi addressed the accolades, as well as her Grammy nomination for ‘Bodak Yellow’, on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon late last year. She said: “I already feel like a winner! You know what I’m saying I never thought that me… I already won what’s good? It feels good cos I really worked my ass off for it, it finally pays off.”

A collaboration with Yo Gotti is set to drop soon.
