Catatonia have been announced for the Wembley Stadium leg of the NetAid fundraiser on October 9. They will also be among the headlining acts at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Catatonia and Reef were the special guests at this year’s annual Pilton Village Fte, run by Michael Eavis, organiser of the Glastonbury Festival, to raise funds for the local community.
Michael Eavis confirmed that Catatonia and Reef playing the fete meant that they were both likely to play next year’s Glastonbury: “They’ll be given prominent slots,” he told NME. “As for the headliners, well, everyone’s chasing the main two next year, aren’t they? It’s pretty obvious and you don’t need much imagination to work out who that is. But whether they’re both doing it or not, I simply do not know.
“All these other names are coming forward too. Even Whitney Houston! She wants to do it, can you believe that!? She’s asked us, so we’re checking her out in a couple of weeks up at Wembley. She’ll make a nice Sunday slot don’t you think? Followed by a Tom Jones slot. Tony Bennett. Will that do? Does that get your approval?!”
