Catatonia‘s CERYS MATTHEWS was a surprise special guest when she joined Pet Shop Boys on the PYRAMID STAGE for a storming version of ‘WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS?’ at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL tonight (June 24).
Neil Tennant introduced the surprise guest three-quarters of the way through the set, saying: ‘The next song was originally recorded with Dusty Springfield. Tonight we will do it with a very special friend of ours.’
Looking incredibly glam and more like one of All Saints than the tequila-swigging frontwoman of the wild Welsh rockers, Cerys‘ appearance came as a complete shock to the audience. She was greeted with an enormous cheer and beamed throughout the performance. She was in excellent voice as she sang Dusty‘s parts of the duet and Neil gave her a quick kiss before she left the stage waving, saying: ‘Have a lovely time,’ to another rowdy round of applause.
The Pet Shop Boys, second-top of the bill, who will be followed tonight by headliners Travis, performed a set packed with old favourites to a wildly enthusiastic and expansive crowd.
