CeeLo Green reveals Mark Ronson-produced single ‘Mother May I’ – listen

Green releases new album 'Heart Blanche' on November 6

CeeLo Green has revealed new single ‘Mother May I’, which was produced by Mark Ronson.

‘Mother May I’ features on Green’s new album ‘Heart Blanche’, released next month (November). It is the follow up to recent single ‘Robin Williams’ and can be heard below.

Gnarls Barkley singer Green escaped jail time last year after pleading no contest to drugs charges. He was subsequently forced to apologise after tweeting controversial remarks about rape immediately afterwards.

The singer was accused of secretly slipping ecstasy into the drink of his dinner date at a sushi restaurant in July 2012, and was sentenced to three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 360 hours of community service.

Green tackled the tweets head on in a recent interview, apologising and describing his comments as “highly irresponsible”. He did not, however, talk about the court case itself. “I do realise in retrospect that it was highly sensitive, what I tweeted – highly irresponsible,” he said.

Having apologised for the Twitter comments, Green has now revealed that he may be in a position to return to TV and reprise his role as a coach on the US version of The Voice.

He tells the Associated Press, “I’ve talked very possibly about doing The Voice again. So I just kind of put that out there, wishful thinking, kind of willing it. Because I would love to do it again.”

‘Heart Blanche’ is released on November 6 and features production from Ronson plus Pharrell Williams and Paul Epworth.
