The Gnarls Barkley singer says the Starman will "live forever in our hearts"

Cee Lo Green has paid tribute to the late David Bowie by covering one of his biggest hits.

As part of TV show Cee Lo Green: Live in LA, the Gnarls Barkley star recorded his own unique acoustic version of Bowie’s 1969 hit ‘Space Oddity’.

Billboard has since obtained an exclusive outtake of his performance from the show, which also sees Green pay homage to the Starman as he introduces the song.

The singer says: “We are speechless, you will live forever in our hearts. You are so wonderful, your soul and spirit are immortal, we love you dearly. we dedicate this rendition to you and your spirit.”

Taped back in January in Los Angeles, fans and those in the music industry were treated to a fully acoustic performance from Green, complete with the backing of a five-piece band and three singers.

It’s been a busy few months for The Voice USA coach, with Green kicking off his Love Train tour (March 1-13) and unveiling his Joyride mobile game on March 3.

He also featured on Kendrick Lamar’s new album ‘Untitled Unmastered’, contributing his vocals to song ‘Untitled 6’.

Green recently spoke about working with the rapper, stating he thought the finished product was “wonderful”, before adding that Lamar “did an exceptional job”.
