MC misses New York gig through illness
Chance The Rapper is in hospital with pneumonia, just days before his new mixtape is due to be released.
The Chicago rapper was due to perform in New York last night at a charity concert. However, he pulled out at the last minute with organisers stating that he was seeking medical attention. He has since confirmed that he is suffering from pneumonia.
Chance was on the bill for the Robin Hood Foundation gig, a fundraiser for a local anti-poverty organisation. Anderson .Paak, Joey Bada$$, and Mark Ronson were called on to replace him on the bill.
Bada$$ offered his well wishes on Twitter. “Looks like I’ll be performing at Terminal 5 tonight in NYC covering for my brother @chancetherapper get well bro I got you [‼️],” he tweeted.
This isn’t the first time Chance has canceled a performance. In 2014 missed his Coachella set after falling ill and being sent to the hospital.
Dubbed ‘Chance 3’ by fans, Chance The Rapper’s new mixtape is due for release on Friday (May 13). It is the follow up to ‘Surf’, the 2015 mixtape he made with The Social Experiment. Breakthrough mixtape ‘Acid Rap’ was released in 2013 while a collaborative release with Lil B also came out last year.
Last month Chance released his video for ‘Angels’, the lead single from ‘Chance 3’, which first dropped in October 2015.
Chance The Rapper debuted new song ‘Blessings’ from the mixtape on The Tonight Show last week.
