Charli XCX and Bleachers announce joint US tour

Pair will appear in the UK separately this summer

Charli XCX and Bleachers – the side project of Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff – have announced a co-headlining US tour that will take place this summer.

The tour begins on July 21 in San Diego and will run for 14 shows. While they won’t be appearing in the UK together, Bleachers are due to perform Glasgow’s The Garage venue on July 5 and the Academy 3, Manchester on July 6. Charli, meanwhile, is set to appear at this summer’s Wireless Festival, Reading & Leeds Festival and Bestival. Click below to watch the pair announce their joint shows via YouTube.

In addition, both Antonoff and Charli offered very similar thoughts on each other in a press release.

“I love Charli. I love what she does with pop music, how she makes it bizarre,” said Antonoff. “The two of us do totally different things but occupy a similar space – that’s what I loved about the idea to tour together. It makes sense in the fact that it doesn’t make sense.”

“I love Jack. I love what he does with pop music, how he makes every song feel like a movie,” added Charli. “This tour is gonna be cool and weird and fabulous and I really can’t wait.”

Charli recently co-starred in the video for Ty Dolla $ign’s new single ‘Drop That Kitty’. The track, which was originally released in February, features guest spots from Charli and the singer Tinashe.
