Collaboration will appear on XCX's forthcoming album 'Sucker'
Charli XCX has revealed the video for her new single, a collaboration with Rita Ora titled ‘Doing It’.
The colourful video, which can be seen below, features both XCX and Ora as a Thelma & Louise style duo who are chased into the desert by police in their pink truck. The police eventually catch up with them, but instead of arresting the pair, begin dancing with them instead.
‘Doing It’ will feature on XCX’s new album ‘Sucker’, the release of which was recently delayed until next month (February).
The album was originally scheduled to be originally scheduled for release in October last year, but was subsequently pushed back until January 26. Speaking about the delay at the time, XCX said that the success of her single ‘Boom Clap’ led to the release date being delayed as it was necessary to “launch the album properly”.
Since then it has been revealed that the LP’s UK release has been postponed again, and it will now be out on February 16. The album has already been released in the US.
Speaking to NME about ‘Sucker’ earlier this year, Charli XCX said she’d be using the LP to establish herself as a solo artist, after duetting with Iggy Azalea and writing for Icona Pop. “I can write a fucking hit song,” she said. “And I’m going to write some for me now. I feel like as an artist I’ve done so many collaborations now that I think I just want to take this record for myself.”
Charli XCX is set to tour the UK this April and May. Starting in Brighton on April 24, the tour will then visit London, Glasgow, Sheffield, Oxford, Manchester and Nottingham before ending in Birmingham on May 2. Tickets for all dates go on sale at 9am on Friday (November 7).
