Charli XCX has covered Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’. See below to watch footage of her performing the cover during a recent live session.
The singer is the latest artist to take on the track, after FKA Twigs revealed her version of the same song during a Radio 1 Live Lounge appearance over the weekend. ‘Stay With Me’ features on Sam Smith’s debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’, released earlier this year (2014).
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Charli XCX is set to support Katy Perry on tour in Europe in February and March 2015.
Perry’s ‘Prismatic’ tour will arrive in Europe in the early part of the year with Charli XCX on board for dates in Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Austria, Belgium and Holland among others.
Charli XCX releases her new album ‘Sucker’ on October 5. The album will feature Charli XCX’s Top 10 single ‘Boom Clap’ plus new single ‘Break The Rules’. The British singer has worked with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend on the record.
Speaking to NME about the record earlier this year, Charli XCX said she’d be using the LP to establish herself as a solo artist, after becoming famous for duetting with Iggy Azalea and writing for Icona Pop. “I can write a fucking hit song,” she said. “And I’m going to write some for me now. I feel like as an artist I’ve done so many collaborations now that I think I just want to take this record for myself.”
‘Sucker’ follows 2013’s ‘True Romance’. To support the release of the album she will play a one-off show at London’s Heaven on October 30.
