Digital Spy reports that Charli XCX, who wrote Icona Pop‘s smash hit ‘I Love It’ and released her own debut solo album ‘True Romance’ earlier this year has sent one song for consideration on the album, which will be the eighth of Spears career. Revealing the news in a new interview, the UK singer-songwriter said she was “freaking out” about the writing session.
“I’ve been doing some writing for the Britney record. I was freaking out. I didn’t even want to go to the session I was so excited. I was so worried I would fuck it up,” said the 21 year old. “I was doing some stuff for that yesterday actually. Who knows how it will go. We’ve written one song and it’s a great track and if she likes it then amazing. It was just an honour to be asked.”
It was recently reported that Spears will head to the Lake District to work on tracks for her forthcoming album with UK producer, and Tinie Tempah collaborator Naughty Boy as a producer on the project. He is apparently planning to take her to Cumbria for creative inspiration.
Meanwhile, Spears has teased fans with the prospect of a big announcement by unveiling a mysterious countdown on her official website. “ALL EYES ON ME” are the only words on the countdown page and at the time of writing the ticker has around 21 days remaining.
As well as Naughty Boy, Spears’ collaborators on her forthcoming album, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Femme Fatale’, include Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange, William Orbit, Sia and will.i.am.
