'I know people think I’m a bitch' admits reality star – but claims it's 'a massive front'
Cher Lloyd has admitted that the public’s criticism of her was almost enough to make her quit music.
The X Factor singer, who releases her debut album ‘Sticks & Stones’ today, told the Daily Star that she had found the hate campaign against her so distressing that she was too scared to leave her house.
She said: “I know people think I’m a bitch but they don’t realise I put on a massive front. When I go home and close the door I break down, phone my mum and dad and cry.
“It got to the point when I thought ‘Why am I doing this?'”
Lloyd, who had also claimed in August that the negative reaction to her debut single ‘Swagger Jagger’ made her consider quitting her singing career, added:
I’m getting shit off everyone and I’m scared to even go out of my front door. I thought ‘Fuck it, I don’t want to do this anymore. And I don’t want to lie about it anymore either.’
The singer, whose album features a collaboration with rapper Busta Rhymes, went on to add: “I think I need to let people know I’m not as strong as I pretend to be. I put up a big barrier because I don’t want people to think I’m having a breakdown or that I can’t handle the pressure.”
