Cheryl Cole confirms Lana Del Rey penned song will feature on her new album ‘A Million Lights’

Singer also says she's 'in love' with the 'Video Games' songstress

Cheryl Cole has confirmed that a song written by Lana Del Rey will feature on her new studio album ‘A Million Lights’.

The Girls Aloud singer will release ‘A Million Lights’ on June 18. The record will be the singer’s third studio album and is the follow-up to her 2010 effort ‘Messy Little Raindrops’.

Speaking to Capital FM, Cole responded to a question about how she got to know Del Rey by saying: “I noticed Lana about a year ago. I was hearing these songs that were really fresh to my ear and amazing and I asked the guy who she was and he said, ‘Watch out for her, it’s a girl called Lana Del Rey’.”

She continued: “It all happened really organically just like that. And then ‘Video Games’ came out and I fell in love with her as an artist as well, so year, she’s super talented.”

According to earlier reports, the track Del Rey has penned for Cole’s album is an “urban, mid-tempo ballad” that she wrote but didn’t include on her debut album ‘Born To Die’.

‘A Million Lights’ will be the first album that the singer releases under the name of ‘Cheryl’. Last month, it was revealed that she was ditching her surname for her recording career, as she is eager to distance herself from her former marriage to Premiership footballer Ashley Cole, who she divorced in 2010 following several high-profile claims that he had cheated on her.

The first single from ‘A Million Lights’ is titled ‘Call My Name’ and can be heard below:
