Lana Del Rey writes song for Cheryl Cole’s new album?

Girls Aloud singer apparently wants to record track penned by 'Video Games' starlet

Cheryl Cole wants to record a track for her new album written by Lana Del Rey, according to reports.

The Girls Aloud singer is eager to include the song on her as-yet-untitled new LP, says The Sun, as she is a big fan of the ‘Video Games’ starlet and is eager to use the “urban, mid-tempo-ballad” that Del Rey decided not to include on her debut album ‘Born To Die’, which was released earlier this year.

A source said: “Cheryl is a big fan of Lana and was intrigued to hear she had lots of songs written which she wasn’t going to sing herself.”

She got hold of one and was really taken with it. The record label are pretty happy about it because Lana has a massive following.

Cole is expected to release the first single from her third studio album in March. The singer, who had previously insisted she was eager for the follow-up to her 2010 LP ‘Messy Little Raindrops’ to have a “more urban vibe” and was said to be chasing collaborations with hip-hop stars Eminem and Nicki Minaj, has reportedly almost finished work on the record.

Lana Del Rey’s debut album ‘Born To Die’ has sold over 900,000 copies worldwide since its release. Last month (February 16), the singer’s record label boss revealed that she already has “three albums’-worth of songs” in the bag for a potential follow-up.
