Childish Gambino, Kanye West, and more rumoured to headline Coachella 2019

The news comes from "informed sources"

Childish Gambino, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West are to headline the next Coachella music festival – if rumours are to be believed.

Hits Double Daily reported on Monday (October 1) that the pop and rap heavyweights will top the festival bill on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively.

All three acts have released material in the past 12 months.

Donald Glover of Childish Gambino shared a number of new tracks this summer including ‘Summertime Magic’ and ‘This Is America’, the latter of which became a viral hit with its startlingly political music video.

Timberlake is wrapping up promotion for his 2018 comeback record, ‘Man Of The Woods’, while West is preparing to drop the follow-up to June’s surprise album, ‘Ye’.

West last headlined the Californian music festival in 2011.

In recent years attendees have been treated to headline performances by Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, RadioheadLCD Soundsystem, and Drake.

In her report on Beyonce’s 2018 headline performance, NME’s Rhian Daly wrote: “Her set tonight is a masterclass in performance and spectacle, even if you strip her band, dancers, and guests away. With them, it becomes an out-of-this-world marvel that will take some topping.”

NME has contacted Coachella for comment.
