The prospect of new Childish Gambino music surfacing in 2018 has risen after he signed a new record deal with RCA Records.
Gambino – the music moniker of Atlanta and Community star Donald Glover – last released an album in 2016 with ‘”Awaken, My Love!”‘, which has been nominated for five awards at this month’s Grammys.
After telling fans that he’d be retiring Childish Gambino after the next album, Glover has now brokered a major record and label deal with RCA Records. Glover’s management company/creative agency, Wolf + Rothstein, has also partnered with RCA as part of the deal.
Announcing the deal earlier today (January 22), Glover said that “it was a necessary change of pace.” Childish Gambino had previously been signed to GlassNote.
Today’s announcement has also promised fans that they can expect new music from Childish Gambino later this year, according to Variety.
As well as his forthcoming live performance at the Grammys in New York City on Sunday (January 28), Gambino is also one of a number of major artists – including The National, Eminem and 30 Seconds To Mars – who are set to play awards week shows in the city in the coming days.
