Chris Brown suspected of assault at basketball game

The incident is alleged to have taken place in Las Vegas during the early hours of Monday morning (May 4)

Chris Brown is suspected of allegedly assaulting a man during a basketball game in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Brown, who recently confirmed he is off probation for first time since 2009, was named as a suspect following an incident that is alleged to have taken place during the early hours of Monday morning (May 4) at the Palms Casino Resort.

Billboard reports that Las Vegas police have confirmed the news in a press statement. According to the police, “Mr Brown has been given the option of signing a citation for misdemeanor battery, or having the case submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.” It is thought that the man, who has not been named, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

In March, Chris Brown stated that he is no longer on probation following his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Brown’s probation officer reportedly told a Los Angeles judge that his client had satisfactorily completed his community service six years and one month after the original incident.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles police searched Brown’s car earlier this year (February 6) after receiving an anonymous tip that his passenger was carrying a gun. It was reported at the time Brown was attending rapper TI’s pre-Grammy party at Hollywood’s Sayer nightclub when law enforcement detained a friend of the singer before searching his Lamborghini. No weapon was found by the police officers.

This followed a separate incident during an appearance at a San Jose nightclub when Brown was forced to flee the stage after gunshots were fired. Five people were injured in the gunfire and several people were arrested following the incident.
