Frank Ocean ‘wants to press charges against Chris Brown following brawl’

LA sheriffs say Ocean is "desirous of prosecution" after Brown allegedly "jumped" him

Frank Ocean intends to press charges against Chris Brown following their fight at a LA recording studio, says a local sheriff.

According to reports, the pair got into an argument about a parking space at the studio on Sunday (January 27) and the row is said to have turned into a six-man brawl. Sheriff’s deputies were called out after witnesses claimed that Brown punched Ocean during the brief altercation.

Ocean appeared to confirm the incident later on, posting two messages on Twitter claiming he was “jumped” and that his injuries will affect his performance at the Grammys next month (February 2013). “Got jumped by Chris and a couple guys. Lol. I only wish [Ocean’s dog] Everest was there,” he tweeted. “Cut my finger now I can’t play with two hands at the Grammys.”

Now LA County sheriffs have confirmed the status of the case against Brown, who is serving five years’ probation for assaulting Rihanna in 2009. Spokesperson Steve Whitmore revealed that no charges have been filed yet, but said Ocean “is desirous of prosecution in this incident”.

According to Reuters, Brown’s representative has yet to comment on the potential charges. However, the singer appeared to give away his feelings on the incident by posting a picture of Jesus on the cross on his Instagram account, together with the caption: “Painting the way I feel today.” The picture has since been deleted.

Meanwhile, Brown and Ocean will compete against each other for the best urban contemporary album award at this year’s Grammys, which take place on February 10 in Los Angeles. The pair’s feud dates back two years after they clashed on Twitter. Ocean later posted video footage of Brown’s cousin chasing him in his car online.
