Cornell left Soundgarden after the release of ‘Down On The Upside’ in 1997 to embark on a solo career, releasing an album, ‘Euphoria Morning’ two years later. He played two solo dates in the UK to support the release of the single ‘Can’t Change Me’.

Since leaving Rage in October, stating that it was a “necessary” because the band’s artistic and political ideal was being undermined by their decision-making process failing completely, De La Rocha has recorded five solo songs, with drummer ?uestlove of Roots playing and producing, at New York Electric Lady studios. Other collaborators on his solo project are expected to include Roni Size, DJ Shadow and El-P from New York rap group Company Flow.

His solo debut is expected to be released later this year.

He also makes a guest appearance on Kelis collaborators The Neptunes’ forthcoming debut album ‘In Search Of…’, which is out in the spring.
