Chris Cornell’s daughter shares previously unheard duet with her father

The duo recorded Sinead O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' together

Chris Cornell‘s daughter has shared a previously unheard duet with her dad to mark Father’s Day.

The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman died by suicide on May 18, 2017. He was 52 years old.

Last Father’s Day, Toni Cornell shared a letter to her father and sang ‘Hallelujah’ to honour him. This year, she has uploaded a recording of them singing Sinead O’Connor‘s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, which was originally written by Prince, to Chris Cornell’s official YouTube account. Listen to it below.

She wrote a note to her late parent in the video description, which read: “Daddy, I love you and miss you so much. You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn’t have any. You believed in me when I didn’t. I miss your love everyday.

“Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 1000 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father’s Day daddy, nothing compares to you. Toni.”

A public vigil was held to remember Chris Cornell last month, on the first anniversary of his death. Fans of the musician were invited to pay their respects at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever cemetery where Cornell is buried by his widow Vicky.
