AGUILERA TOPS CHART

While Norah Jones tops the album chart on the back of Grammy success...

Christina Aguilera debuts at number one on the UK single chart today (March 2) with ‘Beautiful.’.

The US star sees off lesbian Russian twosome Tatu who had started to look like a permanent fixture at the top. DJ Sammy goes in at two today with their trance cover of ‘Boys Of Summer’, while NME favourites Junior Senior enter at four with ‘Move Your Feet’, just behind Tatu. Fame Academy runner-up Ainslie Henderson goes in at five with ‘Keep Me A Secret’. However former Spice Girl Mel C returns to the charts with a disappointing number seven with ‘Here It Comes Again’.

On down the chart, underfire Massive Attack star 3-D has cause for muted celebration seeing new single ‘Special Cases’ enter at 15, just ahead of Royksopp at 16 with ‘Epie’.

There are few other new entries on the single chart. Former Smashing Pumpkin Billy Corgan sees new outfit Zwan chart at 28 with ‘Honestly’, just ahead of another veteran Toni Braxton at 29.

Norah Jones sees ‘Come Away With Me’ climb to the top of the album chart on the back of her multi-Grammy winning success, moving from 10 to one. She’s expected to top the US charts this week too.

Recent Brit Award winners Coldplay and Tom Jones also climb, while former All Saints sisters Appleton see their debut album ‘Everything’s Eventual’ enter at nine.
