Christine And The Queens announces new album ‘Chris’ and shares ‘special’ new single ‘Doesn’t Matter’

The follow-up to 'Chaleur Humaine' is on the way

Christine And The Queens has announced her second album ‘Chris’ and shared “special” new single ‘Doesn’t Matter’.

The French star, whose real name is Héloïse Letissier, released her debut album ‘Chaleur Humaine‘ in 2016. The record came in third in NME‘s Albums Of The Year list that year.

Now, it has been confirmed its follow-up ‘Chris’ will be released on September 21 via Because Music. It will be available on double CD, vinyl and as a limited edition boxset. Letissier has shared another track from the record, following ‘Girlfriend’, in ‘Doesn’t Matter’. Watch the Colin Solal Cardo-directed video below.

Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Letissier described the new song as “quite a special one for me.” “It might be a different narrative if you heard ‘Girlfriend’ before,” she continued. “It’s actually a sign that there are many ways to be tough and strong on that record – there are many nuances in that storytelling, many ways to be bold.

“To me, this bold in a way that I am totally and utterly exposed. There is nothing where I can hide. If you listen to the lyrics, it’s almost like a confession. There is a sense of despair also in this record, but it’s strangely empowering at the same time.”

The tracklisting for ‘Chris’ has also been confirmed for both the English language and French language versions of the record.

The English language version is as follows:

‘Comme Si’
‘Girlfriend’ (feat. Dâm-Funk)

‘The Walker’
‘Doesn’t Matter’
‘5 Dollars’
‘Goya Soda’
‘Damn (What Must A Woman Do)’
‘What’s-her-face’
‘Feel So Good’
‘Make Some Sense’
‘The Stranger’
